About the Project
The MBTW Group was retained by PCL Constructors of Canada in 2009 to provide full scope Landscape Architectural services for the detailed design and implementation of the Bridgepoint Active Health Redevelopment. This scope of work included the creation of a visionary campus master plan, which incorporated a new hospital, restoration of the Old Don Jail into an administration building, Hubbard Park and future development blocks.
MBTW was responsible for the detailed design and construction administration of a stunning green roof and roof-top terrace, central court and drop off area, seating areas and courtyards, barrier free walkways and trail connections, water features, heritage gardens, labyrinth terrace, a massive slope stabilization application, reintegration/repurposing of existing site features and coordination with public artists.
Consultation with both the TRCA, Toronto/ Heritage, and others was necessary for this design due to its historic context as well as its sensitive location within the Don River watershed.
